Community and Outreach Services

Educating the community is an important component of our mission. Our Community Outreach activities increase awareness and understanding of the potential risk specific medications, drugs and other environmental agents could have on an unborn baby. Our education also provides reassurance on those agents that do not increase risk.

Our community education and outreach activities include participation in health fairs, medical conferences and other community events. Additionally, our Teratogen Information Specialists provide in-service education on teratogens at drug treatment centers, medical offices, hospitals, schools, colleges and universities.

Schedule a speaker

CTIS is frequently asked to speak at community groups or organizations on teratogens and their effects on the developing fetus. Our available speakers are Teratogen Information Specialists, a prenatal epidemiologist or a physician. The speaker format generally includes a 45-minute to 1-hour presentation on the requested topic followed by audience questions. The presentation may include lecture, slides or videos, depending on the topic discussed. Literature is available for participants to take home.

Contact us to find out how to schedule a speaker for your community event or staff in-service.
